Is it the same on all models?

It is the bore diameter, land to land in the barrel. All are not the same. You often see variations in the decimals; i.e. 8.83, 8.81, although 8.82 seems to be, by far, the most common.

Although I once had an "expert" come up to me at a gun show, insisting that the gun I sold him was an import, as it had an August, 1982 Import Stamp!

If they are the same how do they track a bullet to a particular gun? Whats the differences?

Thats why the Italian mafia used 22LR pistols for liquidations. Once a soft lead bullet had penetrated the melon it was to mangled up to identify to a specific weapon.

The 8.81 through 8.85 bore measurement was gauged for each barrel as part of the manufacturing process. 8.82mm is the optimum land to land measurement. 9.02mm the optimal groove to groove measurement.

Since this was measured and stamped when the barrel was brand new, it is possible to determine the amount of wear a barrel has experienced by gauging it again at a later time.
