Recently bought a nice 1939 dated Mauser 42 code from a young fellow who brought it into the shop because "it jams". After I disassembled it, and saw everything in good order. I, too, have a 1939 Mauser 42, serial #2101t. It's all matching even the grips. The aluminum base mag has a serial #6469 over n and a plus (+).
