It's basically a genre in which older (typically 19th century), real life items are mixed with futuristic technology. The movie Wild Wild West, starring Will Smith, is a good example.

Thanks , I watched the first "Wild, Wild West" on tv back in the day; I just couldn't get interested in remake.

So "steam punk" is the house I grew up in or maybe the one I live in today? I usually can't get my "futuristic" technology to work.

Actually I think I have it, the original Nautilus of Jules Vern- the ultimate steampunk? Rivets and nuclear energy?

Bob Conrad, the original West, was married to Caroline Schlitt, who gave one of those celebrity tours of their (Colorado?) house. In the wall separating the shower area from the rest of the bathroom were installed 3 brass-framed portholes, stacked vertically. Seems ol' Bob himself had a taste for Steampunk...before it was Steampunk.

That would be the Disney Nautilus. The original one from Jules Verne was "rivets and electricity".

A capacitor stores electricity, it does Not make electricity!

A battery converts chemical "energy" into electricity- they are in no way similar.
