Single shot .22 conversion of Luger? For anyone who has heard the term, this "remodeling" by A.W. PETERSON & SON / DENVER was Steampunk before its time! Has anyone ever seen this one before? http://jamesdjulia.com/item/1564-396/

When my dad constructed a custom sign box, he studiously avoided showing fasteners and such from showing, to give the skin/case a clean external line. Otherwise, he said, it would look like a porcupine. A.W. or his son didn't seem to have the same concerns. All this pistol needs now is an Evinrude outboard engine!

Most interesting Dave. "Wild and crazy" is an accurate term. Additionally I don't often see pistols from "esteemed collections" of some expert very often. I don't move in those circles.

It's basically a genre in which older (typically 19th century), real life items are mixed with futuristic technology. The movie Wild Wild West, starring Will Smith, is a good example.

Styling aside, this makes me wonder if an outboard rear sight assembly that can be clamped onto the lanyard loop, remains stable during shooting, and allows clearance for the rear toggle link to move, might be concocted.

I like it.

Thanks , I watched the first "Wild, Wild West" on tv back in the day; I just couldn't get interested in remake.

So "steam punk" is the house I grew up in or maybe the one I live in today? I usually can't get my "futuristic" technology to work.:evilgrin:

Actually I think I have it, the original Nautilus of Jules Vern- the ultimate steampunk? Rivets and nuclear energy? ;)

Bob Conrad, the original West, was married to Caroline Schlitt, who gave one of those celebrity tours of their (Colorado?) house. In the wall separating the shower area from the rest of the bathroom were installed 3 brass-framed portholes, stacked vertically. Seems ol' Bob himself had a taste for Steampunk...before it was Steampunk.

I would say 'The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen' was more steampunk. The movie itself sucked but I liked the technology. :D

Two other movies with steampunk that I did like were the Robert Downey Jr 'Sherlock Holmes' movies. I forget the name of the last one (A Game Of Shadows?), but it was a precursor to WW I and was about arms dealers... :p

Another worthless movie with a bunch of interesting ideas was 'Sky Captain And The World of Tomorrow', with things like submarine-P40-Warhawks, flying aircraft carriers, and more that I can't recall now...

This .22 conversion actually has some interesting and novel features...the vertically adjustable front sight, the external hammer, the tilting barrel...

Just getting the hammer to work with the Luger seartrain is a major accomplishment... :thumbup:

Oh? Tell me, what did John Martz do with the leftover Luger half-frames, when he made one out of two??? Or the Wyatt .45 single shot conversions, with the hogged-out magazine well blocked off and disabled??? :rolleyes:

This is no worse than many of the 1911 'customs' that are currently offered. :)

All the same to me. They all have made something different...Not necessarily better, and no conservation of resources either, but individual expression. :thumbup:

I bet A.W. PETERSON & SON could whip up a Type 94 Nambu 'artillery'... :evilgrin:
