Hi Joseph, Sorry to be late responding, I was overseas. The two lobed crown/D mark is the earliest German military inspection mark known and is the same distinctive mark that was used on the very first German Army test guns ( formerly known as Danzig Test). If yours is indeed identical to the one shown it is very rare, with only two known examples.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. It turns out mine is a 3 lobed tool so it was close, but not the "Jackpot" I was curious about. However, I am a little more enlightened regarding tool marks thanks to your posts, Lugerholster Repair and Dave Lindsey.
