Standard 1920 alphabet commercial, fairly harshly abused. The magazine is a Navy mag and should have serial numbers stamped on the wooden bottom. Seller saying magazine is unmarked is problematical.

It would make the difference between a very good deal and one that turns out extra sweet! I think I've seen cheap-o repros on eBay with concentric ringed wooden bases, so it might be one of those. Were mags from Commercial Navy configuration pistols serial numbered? I'd have thought not...and if not, it cold be that (cha-ching!). Looks like a decent gun for a decent price, with the possibility of a cherry on top. Maybe we will hear from the buyer.

Are you guys looking at the same auction? The OP's link leads to one with zero bids - it did not sell!

Nice looking pistol, grips need cleanup.

Yes, I just checked and that's true... and not re-listed. Seller's website is in the listing... he has several p.38's for sale.
