Standard 1920 alphabet commercial, fairly harshly abused. The magazine is a Navy mag and should have serial numbers stamped on the wooden bottom. Seller saying magazine is unmarked is problematical.

It would make the difference between a very good deal and one that turns out extra sweet! I think I've seen cheap-o repros on eBay with concentric ringed wooden bases, so it might be one of those. Were mags from Commercial Navy configuration pistols serial numbered? I'd have thought not...and if not, it cold be that (cha-ching!). Looks like a decent gun for a decent price, with the possibility of a cherry on top. Maybe we will hear from the buyer.

Are you guys looking at the same auction? The OP's link leads to one with zero bids - it did not sell!

Nice looking pistol, grips need cleanup.

Yes, I just checked and that's true... and not re-listed. Seller's website is in the listing... he has several p.38's for sale.

I suspect that it sold off auction, because if I'm reading it correctly the auction ended after a day. It came to me on a daily search and was already gone.

Well in my opinion with better grips it would look better, but in any case as a "commercial" luger to me it seems pretty used and abused.

Commercial Navy Lugers usually have concentric ringed mags with "Cal 9 mm" stamped on the bottom.
