I didn't follow this auction, so I can't comment definitively...BUT...

I have had sellers edit/change an auction during its run. Especially the BIN price. If it was something I was bidding on, I sometimes didn't notice that the BIN had been lowered.

I actually paid more than the BIN on one auction because I didn't look closely enough to see the change. It's not always noted by the seller.
