I hate to say it, but I find this demonstration pretty crappy. Perhaps for a repair in the field, maybe... But even a home shop can do better to protect the form of the mag and prevent damage. One technique I use is to reach into the follower slot with the tips of a needle-nose spring clamp and compress and hold the spring to relieve all tension on the mag bottom. Instead of wailing away with a misaligned punch and hammer, the pin can be removed by pushing it out with the tip of a toothpick--or at the most, very little force delivered by a punch that is correctly sized.

Supporting the mag body is a bit more complicated than this guy makes it out--the edge of a book? And during his re-installation of the pin, he's hammering away without any support at all for the mag body, which is suspended between the upper part of the body and the mag bottom's knob, which is up on the book!! I won't get into the details, but one needs to contrive some very simple tooling to preform this simple task without buggering things.
