I thought the step was eliminated in late production due to issues with steel-case ammo?

Could I ask if you know what year Luger that came off of? I did a search and I'm under the impression that the step was done away with after 1940ish. I believe the barrels I have are from AFTER 1940.

According to Görtz/Sturgess the stepped chamber continued until near the end of production in 1942.

Ron that was for guns still in production? I guess what I'm asking is if a replacement barrel was made after the 1942ish date would that still have the step in it? Or would they have gone onto the newer style without the step?

Has anyone ever seen original German Army issue replacement barrels without the stepped chamber? Or for that matter, has anyone seen a Mauser Luger made in 1942 without the step? You will need to determine in just what year your barrels were made and by whom? Was your Dad part of the Army of Occupation? If you have his Army Discharge document, it will give you his service history on the back, including his date of repatriation to the U.S. Perhaps that will help you center in on the time frame he may have obtained these barrels. I do know that the Army PX was selling Lugers as late as the mid 1950's. To me, these still look like modern made Luger barrels. This is just my opinion, however. Others may think otherwise and for very good reasons. Here, you either have a rarity or a complete fake. It is up to you, however, to prove which. Sieger |

you guys have been a bit too direct in some of your accusations from a member who was willing to share; and instead most of what I have seen is blasting his dad as either buying fake stuff or making it? ![]() This posting is closed ... |
