More likely a posed photo out on the reservation. There was great demand for "Wild West" memorabilia at the turn of the 19th, beginning of the 20th. Century. There was a huge industry producing fakes for tenderfeet out east and eager European customers, who were fascinated with the era.
Gussying up a Brave or Chief for a showy photo was not unheard of. |
