When I was five Grandma used to take me to the Jense Beach Womens Club that was often hosted by Francis Langford. Francis was married to Ralph Evenrude who bought her a s125' foot ship the Chanticleer. Grandma took me and I met Mrs Langford. I remember she wore those 3 foot wide dresses. Francis Langford was America's answer to Britain's Vera Lynn during the war. We also had Kate Smith, Dinah Shore and Doris Day.

That one photo of her entertaining in front of a B-17 was portrayed in the movie "Memphis Belle".
