Thanks for the link. I went there and lightened up the pictures to make things easier to see.
The inspection and prower-proof eagle stamped on this pistol is recognized as a Weimsr-era (date uncertain) power-proof. It is rarely encountered, and is not expected to be found as inspection/acceptance marks (the first two of the three on the receiver). The effect on the value of a Luger with the absence, presence, or removal of the sear safety depends entirely on teh variation of the pistol. Absent any other information, the removed sear safety will have the most negative effect. There is evidence of grinding on the receiver top. What may or may not have been there cannot be speculated. Without the serial number and a picture of the bottom of the barrel (at the very least), nothing more can be said about this Luger. --Dwight |
