I was curious if anyone could tell me with these photos if this pistol seems original , correct and a fair price. ( what you would shell out minimum and max)
also are those proof marks number 31 in lugers at random?
reworked police proof?
I see it had a sear safety repair does that detract from value? why are their no other proofs was this a commercial gun reworked by police? also does the chamber look like a date was ground off?
thankyou

The proofs are certainly attention-getting.

The usual questiohs arise--what is the serial number? Could you please post closeup pictures of the top, other side, under barrel, witness mark, etc?

Thanks for the link. I went there and lightened up the pictures to make things easier to see.

The inspection and prower-proof eagle stamped on this pistol is recognized as a Weimsr-era (date uncertain) power-proof. It is rarely encountered, and is not expected to be found as inspection/acceptance marks (the first two of the three on the receiver).

The effect on the value of a Luger with the absence, presence, or removal of the sear safety depends entirely on teh variation of the pistol. Absent any other information, the removed sear safety will have the most negative effect.

There is evidence of grinding on the receiver top. What may or may not have been there cannot be speculated.

Without the serial number and a picture of the bottom of the barrel (at the very least), nothing more can be said about this Luger.

It also seems to have a broken or missing take down lever retention spring.
