Over the years I have seen a couple of M1900 Lugers with that tapped hole in the grip. I do not think a stock screwed directly into the hole but rather an elongated piece on the stock shaped to fit the lower part of the grip that was affixed by a knurled or thumb screw. That would give more bearing surface on the grip rather than a threaded thin rod with a butt plate on the end.
