Yes... The quality definitely suffered when they tried to make them in the USA, and also when ERMA tried to make .22 Caliber Lugers.
As to the military ones, I think most show remarkable craftsmanship. Also the 1970s Mauser Parabellum pistols are very finely made. Marc
