These are one of the more difficult holsters to detect fakes. Photo's make it doubly difficult compared to having it in hand. There are several things that bother me about it. I don't like the WaA under the P-38. Why wouldn't it be between the belt loops under the maker code? I also don't like the black paint on the underside of the closure stud or the rivet. The stitching isn't too out of normal for a late 1944 holster but I would want to closely inspect it and put a blacklight on it to see it it is really linen.
The one factor I would want to closely inspect is the profile of the closure stud. Wartime studs were machined with spiral lines around it..post war studs are cast. Look closely at the stud and see if it has casting lines down both sides.
