Seems like you finally found you a nice one.

And yes, that's the ejector. Mine looks like that too (I'll see if I can upload a picture later) and it ejects just fine. You're screwed if it wears out though.

I would recommend that you buy Gerard Henrotin's e-book on these guns ( http://www.hlebooks.com/ ), it shows exactly how to take the thing apart, detail strip and all. My 1900 is in great shape but was full of old, hardened factory grease, and a complete disassembly together with a thorough cleaning really brought it back to life. It's a sturdy and well built gun and it shoots good too, so this is one of the oldies I'm not afraid to use. And taking it apart completely will really show you how nicely everything is made and fitted.
