What is this thing??? Is it the ejector??? If so, has it been filed down???

It doesn't look like it would eject a shell... :(

Seems like you finally found you a nice one.

And yes, that's the ejector. Mine looks like that too (I'll see if I can upload a picture later) and it ejects just fine. You're screwed if it wears out though. :D

I would recommend that you buy Gerard Henrotin's e-book on these guns ( http://www.hlebooks.com/ ), it shows exactly how to take the thing apart, detail strip and all. My 1900 is in great shape but was full of old, hardened factory grease, and a complete disassembly together with a thorough cleaning really brought it back to life. It's a sturdy and well built gun and it shoots good too, so this is one of the oldies I'm not afraid to use. And taking it apart completely will really show you how nicely everything is made and fitted.

Most probably you will find an answer to all your questions about this model here : http://www.hlebooks.com/ebook/fn19load.htm

You sure will. For those who haven't tried Gerard's e-books yet, give it a try. The technical descriptions (together with excellent color photos) are way better than you'll find in other manuals. Also, the e-book format is great for us who love to tear things apart and put them back together again: Instead of flipping through a torn and oil stained manual, you can just print what you need and toss it when you're done.

I concur with Olle, Gerard Henrotin's e-books are well worth the money just for the illustrations. I have all of his Luger e-books.
