Charles
"I would like to ask the question about if some Police Banners came with the black polymer grips and fxo magazines." Have not observed a Police banner dated 1938-1942 (four digit date) with black polymer grips. However, a 41 (two digit) dated banner is shown on page 164 of Third Reich Lugers. When I started collecting many years ago the old time experts informed me that Police Banners were not issued with black grips. However, Hallock on page 360 of his and Joops new book indicates that 20 % of police banners in the 1y-8737y serial range have black polymer grips. What are the observations of collectors? Thanks Jan Stan (added) As you observed, Hallock on page 239 (left column next to last paragraph) states "Black plastic grip panels or magazine bottoms are not found on police Luger pistols that were purchased from Mauser" Perhaps Joop can indicate which page to believe! Also on page 146 Third Reich Lugers under Characteristics second line; walnut grips are listed as characteristic of 1938 to 1942 banner Police Lugers.
