Friend purchased his first Luger!

Thanks for the information! I know zero about these knives. The former owner's initials are on a metal fitting attached to a leather strap (I guess only having them on the pommel wasn't enough). The scabbard itself looked good at first glance but there was kind of a crimp partway down that made it a tight fit for the knife. Portions of the blade look like it had been cleaned with an abrasive. Of course, this combo came with the typical and fanciful story about the former owner's brother getting them off the the SS officer that he had slain in combat, that the first 2500 of production run of a luger went to the SS (and forget about the letter suffix), etc. I had previously seen and inspected this Luger at the gun shop, contacted Ed Tinker (great guy!)and confirmed that the asking price for the luger alone wasn't even in the same area code of the ball park, and then a couple of months later my friend texts me about his new purchase! Fortunately he had managed to negotiated the price (way down) to $2000 for the package deal and so he may have done alright for himself.
