Just curious, but shouldn't there be bore dimensions on the underside of the barrel? Or did they stop stamping these dimensions in the later part of '41. I know on the few 'byf' '41s I've been able to examine, they all had these dimensions.

See Frank's survey. Some have the bore dimensions and some don't. Mine does not have them.

barr, the bore gage marking was eliminated at about the midway point of the d suffix range.

Hi Fenian, Your byf 42 looks like a nice gun - original and unmessed with. The black plastic based mag is correct for your gun. It's hard to tell about the grips. Late Mauser grip numbering was very erratic. I have seen them numbered, unnumbered, and SE/655 or SE/135 marked. A picture of the inside of the grips might help. Regards, Norm
