I picked up 10 lugers and called up Hugh to talk em over and we hit on this BYF 42 with a 0 stamped on the back and he thought it might mean is was made for another country but I could not find it in the books. I am here at the home of all luger knowage seeking the truth.

The "O" could possibly stand for Ostrich (Austria), but more likely is just an inspector's mark. TH

The gun has been reblued at some point in time. Probably just the remains of a rack number.

I thought that the 0 was for the "Brown Recluse", a close cousin to the "Bl**k W##ow. Very rare, seldom seen and so sought after.
