Dear Bob, During the period you are concerned with(1919-1933), Lugers would have had a rust blue finish with strawed small parts. Rust blueing was a beautiful, durable finish, but was very labor intensive. It was replaced by Mauser in 1937 with salt blueing, which resulted in a blue/black finish that was less durable. Small parts were also blued. Regards, Norm
