It is not uncommon for military capture papers to record Lugers in .38 cal. The US had calibers and the Europeans used mm. The 9mm is close to .38 cal, so it was sometimes put on the capture papers. Too bad about the ruined LP-08. Having unit marks on the grip strap just makes the loss worse. Joe
