Dave, the 6" hits higher and needs a taller front sight because the round is in the barrel longer, pushing the gun back and the muzzle up in your hand, the gun pivoting into your web, making the muzzle rise. A bullet will do the same for a 4" but it takes less time in the barrel. Until the gasses are no longer pushing the gun - and its inertia keeps it going. The longer time the bullet is in the barrel the more recoil force. My 6" conversion also needed a taller sight, taller than any stock P08 Luger sight, to hit POI at the POA.
