Thanks for the correction and suffix. As Ed said above, this pistol was issued to the Landj�¤gerei (rural constabulary) in the Prussian governmental district of Allenstein in the province of East Prussia. This was part of a general rearming of the Landj�¤gerei with Lugers that occurred in 1929. Although the Allenstein Landj�¤gerei contingent was relatively large (390 men), this district was very deep within the territory that was overrun by the Russians at the end of WWII and few of the police weapons have made it into western collectors' hands. I have only four examples, including yours, of L.Al. markings in my database.

It's good to see yours again. Between you and Gary, we have examples of nearly the entire range of weapon numbers from this unit.
