Many people have contended for years that the 9mm is almost in the .357 mag's league. The velocity is pretty good IMO, though I prefer the .357 for several reasons I won't go into. The 9's no slouch though.

As for the accuracy it sort of depends on the platform (gun), but all sorts of cr...uh, crud is written and shown in the media. I've read that .38 snubs couldn't be depended on across an elevator. I'd be willing to demonstrate that a 100 yard wide "elevator" is reasonable with one or two of my snubs!

Mas Ayoob used to give a formula for hitting a man in the chest with a .38 Snub at 100 yards--he said either to hold on the nose or chin, I've forgotten which. He doesn't advocate stuff like that in print anymore as far as I can tell. Guess legal constraints are involved.
