Navy mag question

From the photos of the navy mags I've seen it appears that the wood bottom has rings - is this correct? Also, I was going over all of the mags that I have and only one has the rings and it also has the s/n 5821 stamped on the bottom with a crown over an M like the photos I've seen but there is another number stamped on the back/flat side of the mag itself - 1850 Any thoughts on what the 1850 might stand for? There are no other markings.
