unfortunately its a poor repair,that is not going to have,even close to the strength of the original. If it was welded right, you might not have know. certainly can be saved with a new breech block like GT suggested.

from the few pics, IMO, it appears to be refinished too.

I guess it boils down to what it was worth as to the "prize value"you won.
