I take aviation and aviation support units must have had Lugers assigned to them and many pilots flew with a sidearm. I take that sidearm was more of a personal prefrence and not issued to all pilots. Maybe not a Luger at all. Are there any Lugers proved to be connected to a pilot? I now that before the machine guns became geared to the engines, many pilots and observers of both side would take 'pot shots' at each other. A LP-08 might have fit the bill.
