Will, I could be wrong but I don't think there is any proper direction. The pin is not tapered so either way would get it out. Just be sure the pin is not under the metal when you drive it out so it does not catch the side of the mag body. I have used a small diameter pin punch and they just slide right out. It may be a little more difficult when exchanging as the holes may or may not line up on the new mag bottom. Be sure you have proper support on the side of the mag body if you put any pressure on the pin such as taps with a hammer. You do not want to distort the mag body. Jerry Burney
