Richard, as Charlie suggested, photos would help.

What we can tell from your description;

DWM (manufacturer) made in 1914, and is a serial number of 4518i

The barrel should have the same serial number; however, being marked "germany" shows it was exported to the USA, the after 1910 could be true, however, it would have to be after 1918 for exporting to the USA.
