Hi,

Magazines were replaced when needed, just as they are nowadays. Also, not a lot of care went into assuring the magazines issued with the guns stayed with them. Police took a bit more care, as their pistols and magazines saw a lot less action.

So in my book, just about any functional period correct magazine is just as valid as the next one.
