You have absolutely no control over what some idiot will store in the box next to yours! Poisons, explosives, dangerous chemicals, wood worms, decomposing organic matter, and anything you can imagine could be residing inches from your precious firearms. As if that isn't bad enough, should the box holder die, the moment the bank finds out about it access is frozen until IRS is there to witness the opening. Do you really want feds messing with your stuff? No, not for me. Better to rent a walk-in storage room and stock it with a state-of-the-art fire resistant safe!
