I recently picked up a 1911 Erfurt (profiled earlier in this Forum) with strange marks on the sideplate and right receiver.
As I was examining my Vickers this morning, I looked at a strange marking under the barrel, which I had noted before, and suddenly realized that it was the same mark as the Erfurt sideplate. There is a Vickers illustrated on page 135 of "The Dutch Luger" by Martens and de Vries with the same marking. Neither Costanzo nor Martens & de Vries mention this mark. I'd really like to know if anybody can identify this mark. --Dwight |
