Default Another Dumb Newbie Question

Please, please don't throw rocks at me.

I have to ask this question.

Having cleaned a pair of armorer's walnut grips using Ted's Murphy Oil process, I am really impressed with the improvement in appearance.

The question: Does such cleaning of matching grips on a collectable Luger lower its value as I understand that re-bluing does?

Appreciate your comments on this subject.

Gruss Gott,Luke!

I find that question anything BUT dumb!!!

OK,Kinder, what does cleaning the grips in collector - territory do? As long as one doesn't break them or such, are they still considered "original"? Just curious,as I don't plan to touch any in the near future.

Tschuss! Mark M.

Just my opinion Luke, but I would never clean the grips of a collector grade Luger with any liquid. If the grips appear really dirty I would use a toothbrush and nothing else to remove any accumulated dirt, but no liquids of any kind. Re-cut grips on a collector grade Luger is frowned upon as they are no longer completely original, and you wonder what else was done to try and improve the appearance.
