Simson front strap markings

Simson pistol, I think this is Reiters Regiment is that right ? It looks as though the 7 is struck over a 4

I have these three in my records;

4/R.R.1.48
6./R.R.7.55.
R.96.11.5.

The straight R.R. instead of cursive for WW1 says Recruiting Depot Regiment.
So, not really sure...

Reichswehr marking:7th Reiter Regiment, 6th Squadron, weapon #55. A cavalry unit marking.

I was under the impression that military (not police) grip strap markings were discontinued after 1916.

They were re-instituted by the Reichswehr.
Though not all were marked, neither were they in Imperial times.

They come back during Weimar area , army , police , navy !

Thanks, all taken with my phone. Take 10 keep the good one delete the rest, crop out what you don't want. Good light and I use a Galaxy Note 4 phone.

Phones have largely replaced the digital camera except for the extremely expensive ones for professional photography. My phone does as good or better than any camera I see at a Departement store, and it functions as a de-facto personal computer too.

Not in my "studio", or maybe my phone is just too "cheap".
My Pentax DSLR is 20 mega pixels, my phone is just 2!

But then I didn't buy my phone to take pictures or use as a computer!

I just noticed the Simson on the right has a more squared off rear curve above the loop unlike the gently curved Vickers on the left. there is a line you can feel on the Simson frame.

The Vickers loop is more square than the Simson
