Just for any general interest...There was limited mail delivery today...two letters...Both locally-posted junk mail...Plus a parcel...

I suppose that means the airport is open...And that letter and magazine size mail is being re-run through the high-speed automated sorting machinery...Hopefully for delivery tomorrow & Saturday...

But there are a lot of other places with the same temperatures that do not have earthquakes.

It's 30º right now[9:00am] and nice out...Relatively...

Forecast for next 10 days is decidedly better...30's & 40's with two days in the high 20's...

Eric, I had two retired couples/customers who lived in Florida for our Winters...Gulf coast side...There was a hurricane about 7 - 10 years ago IIRC...They got wiped out...House destroyed, belongings ruined...They were devastated...They had hurricane insurance but not flood insurance...And it was the flood damage that wiped them out...Insurance company wouldn't pay...Damage not directly attributable to hurricane or somesuch...Now they're stuck here year round...

Well, here we go. -12F right now, with 30 to 40 below predicted for the weekend. No big deal. Seen it a hundred times before. Thinking about going out moose watching tomorrow...

Rich hurricanes do scare me but nothing has even come close since 2005 to the east coast. The state and Florida Power & Light has learn from the past. Since then FP&L has spent millions replaceing all wooden power post with concrete steel beems. Below is an example all equipted with video! On our home and two online generators. We have hurricane window shutters and under ground utilities. Of course you can't be a hundred percent secure anywhere. We do lead the nation on lightening strikes that occasional takes out a golfer!. I'm still wearing shorts and a tee shirt on my morning walks! ~~Eric

That gun is probably illegal in California, but it is legal in Kentucky.

Ha! It was 47º here yesterday! Snow is mostly all melted; evening news is full of video of flooded basements along the Buffalo River. Mail delivery is still delayed.
