4004n, just 10 numbers apart from the one owned by Dr. Sturgess and sold at Julia auction a few months ago (3994n).

Thanks much for the serial# info. There are several of these grip safety Alphabet Commercials, and some other noteworthy variations, in the n suffix range. From your photos, your pistol is in nicer condition than 3994n.

Thank you for your comments. Yes, the caliber is 7,65mm and this pistol is in better condition than the one from Dr. Sturgess collection. I think Dr. Sturgess' pistol was import marked since it came into US in 2013 for Julia Auction, right?

Can you help me understand this alpha. 1920 Luger?
It has an unrelieved sear bar, grip safety, and no stock lug. Isn't this a 1906 commercial?

It is a 1906 "style" but the vertical Crown/N proof and the serial number launches it into the 1920s.

A 1920 P08 is a military or police pistol made in 1920 and so marked on the receiver. It has distinctive eagle/ArA4 acceptance marks, and has a no-suffix, a, or b serial number suffx.

"1920 commercial" is an obsolescent term for commercial Lugers made between 1921 and 1929, with a four-digit-with-suffix serial number (beginning with the i suffix) and vertical c/N receiver proofs. Alhough the vast majority of them are P08s with stock lugs, there are noteworthy examples of New Model Parabellum-style pistols within this range, as shown here.

Database reports in the i suffix range are 24 Swiss and four commercial. There are also the known 100 Abercrombie & Fitch guns, several of which are in the database and not all of these are authentic.

In the n suffix range there are reports of six Swiss and three commercial.

Mine is serial # 2842 I.
It is in 100 % (New) original condition.
Mirror Bore,mint grips.
The mag has not had a cartridge in it.
Sounds like they are rare.
