Hard to tell much from that photo, but I'd say that it was a real Luger but is now missing a whole lot of parts which are critical to its function. What does the description say?

Hi
It says, missing breech with internal parts offcourse and sideplate.
I didn't bid on the item but did contact the seller that i'm intrested if the sale wouldn't work out.
Breech isn't the easiest part to find but will see then.

It says "Alt Deko pistole", so it's an old display gun.

Alt deko means it's an original piece made into non firing, but barrel isn't drilled or welded.
You have 2 types of deko in germany:
alt-deko: no changes to the lower receiver only breech cut off 45° and barrel sometimes has holes drilled, chamber is welded
new deko or just deko: lower receiver also grinded and a welding spot just before the place where bullet goes into chamber.

The grip's seems to me in a strange color that's why i asked.

Those grips appear to be aftermarket/replica to me.

Gotcha. I have seen the term "deko" used for other display guns, but it's only used for deactivated guns in Germany then?

Yes that's it. Otherwise they use repro or nachbau

From what you can see from the photo probably it is a real Luger but, with all the respect, what's the point of buying a gun with so many bits missing?

Spare parts is the reason why, otherwise i would spent a lot more for buying it all separate. But at the moment it still isn't mine.
