What car is this?
I figure this is a late 30's-40's something. But I know someone on the forum will take one look and say, "That's a 19__ *..."

I'm old enough to forget to upload the pic, but not so old that I know this car!

I think it is a 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe (may be a Standard, but I think it is a Deluxe).

+1 on Ron's guess... Definitely a ford.

H'mmmm
Gentlemen,
You're all most probably correct; but still, the grill bothers me. Yes, it's a Ford product, but could it not be a Mercury? And, possibly, a '39, '40, '41 or '46? (I was so young then, born in '44; my memory fails at this late date.) My favorite uncle, young blade he at the time, had a '46 Mercury and I always thought the grill looked like an athletic supporter. |

The grill bars on a Mercury of that vintage are horizontal...the Ford's are vertical, as in the photo above. By the way, that Ford and I are the same age...but I'm not a Deluxe model!

I could me mistaken guys, but I believe 1940 is the first year with the head lights in the fenders. Definately a Ford Deluxe coupe.

Yep! You're all right, I'm wrong.
I dug out the old pictures and, yep, fav unc had a Merc. But, nope, his grill was different than the beauty in the picture. Memory seldom serves anymore...but thanks for the lovely stroll down memory lane.
And, yes, they were both sweet little cars! Regards, John |

Not sure of the exact date of transition, but sometime in 1939 the headlights moved from between the fenders and the grill onto the fenders. At any rate, the headlights on the fenders occurred prior to 1940 (I think! )

Golly Ron, If you are not a Deluxe model, I would say you are more of a Special Edition

It's hard to tell exactly from that angle. I'd say it is a '39, the first year with the headlights in the fenders for the coupes.
In '40 the trucks got the same treatment. Here's a shot of my '40 Ford pickup. The front end is the same as the coupe and the headlight bezels are larger in '40. (really just an excuse to post a picture of my truck.) |

...So...The 39's had thin bezels, and the 40's had the thick bezels...
I'd say the pic is a 39...The bezels look thinner than Roland's 40...

It is a '39. The bezels were what caused me to identify it as a 1939 to begin with.
