Theuermann Drop Type Holsters WWII for larger pistols

Are there any examples of Theuermann Drop Type Holsters manufactured during WWII for larger pistols such as P38s or Hi-Powers. I haven't come up with very much only that there are people who claim that they do exist. Pics attached of what I've been told is a post-war fake - which I agree with. Black stitching, brass flap rivets and complete with proof marks albeit very finely done.

The Luftwaffe did issue a similar holster for both Frommer and Femaru pistols it acquired for its aircrews. There are many verified examples out there.

Wondering if there are WWII era examples of p38 or high power sized holsters in the style similar to the one I have pictured...

Odd arrangement of straps under the flap - Do you have any idea what they are for???

I always thought this was a post WWII design for P.38/P-1s.?

I also though the straps were strange, but the belt runs between them and the flap. So the holster rides tight to the body hanging on the closed flap. Then when opened, it falls down under weight of the pistol and flap stays open and pistol is pulled out.

The straps pull the pistol out??? Hmph...Ingenious...

Yes, West German police used them. East Germany used the P08 style with police strap initially and used the soft shell P38 holster afterwards, but not the drop style holsters.

Yep, Post-war WG Police holster. There were tons of these going around 10 or 12 years ago selling for as little as $10-15.
As far as I know most were made in the 50's or early 60's.
There is a white version I've seen as well.

Note the straps do not pull the gun out. They only hold the belt, as it runs between them and the flap.

So when opened, the whole holster drops down about three inches and the straps hold the belt against the flap thus holding the flap open??? Is that it???

Yep. It drops down and is held open by it's own weight, which converts it to an open holster. It's pretty ingenious as you can use it in different states of readiness, and it eliminates one of the drawback of the flap holsters. "For Defcon 1, pull the strap"
