I've had an on-going struggle getting my mix-master Navy 6" shooter to print down on the target, with the original front sight insert placing the shots about a foot high at the normal indoor ranges. So I went to a "tall Mauser" (rifle) front sight insert that measured right at .300". That did the job, however it looked very much like a pistol with a tall rifle front sight and it was too wide to allow the use of the rear sight.
Enter G. T., with his new, tall sight inserts. I got to try the GTLS250 model recently. It took very little filing to get it into the dovetail, but it is snug and not going anywhere. At the range yesterday at 50' the group centered about 3.5" high (standing position) over the point of aim. 115 gr. FMJ reloads. Then, bringing the target in to 25', the 6 shot, 1/2" group was barely 3/4" high, shot from kneeling, gun braced on a shooting bag. Yes, we have a winner! Perfect function, too. Given that the rear sight was set to 100 meters, I expect it to print a bit high, but it has to be within reason given the realistic ranges that I have available to me at this time. I'm looking forward to experimenting with the GTLS300 version, a full .300" tall, but understand that it may bring my shot placement down a bit too far. As always, Thanks G. T! On a side note, it is ironic that I also shot my new Springfield Armory lightweight 1911 compact carry gun, also 9mm. Had several loading/extraction FTF issues, and it would barely keep them in the size of a doorknob at 50'. I just couldn't help but casually make sure that my friends (all 1911 or Glock snobs) got a glimpse of my Luger target... dju |

You need to shoot at 38 ft.; then you will be "right on"!
![]() Quite an improvement in POI. GT's sights are very well made for sure.

Just guessing...50' groups high, 25' groups low, 38' (actually 37.5') should put it in the middle.

And here I thought you were going to tell me that the bullet is rising and crosses the line of sight at 38' and falls down to the mark at 100m. Or something sciencey like that...

Hi David,
Here's proof of your theory. These sailors were shooting at 50 meters with their sights set at 100 meters (I assume). Regards, Norm |

Do my eyes deceive me or are they shooting a brick wall? Wonder it the firing squads use it too?

I saw that too! Bullet bounce back would have kept them hopping plus what happens when the wall is shot away?

I suspect some officer decided that using the wall for a target was not a good idea long before the wall was breached. Or perhaps that is bullet proof paint.

Hi to all, the recent production GTFS-.275" is on the way to Luger doc as we write this! These front sight options are of very high quality (as good as original) ... and are exclusive thru Tom,
Next sight option to be produced will be the tallest, GTLS-.300" and then maybe a final run of .225" (standard) All in all, not many, but should be enough to tame down a few high shoot'in outfits! Best to all, til...lat'r....GT |
