Gents,
Saw the post about the Webley .455 semi auto so thought some of you might enjoy this revolver as well. This is my Webley No.5 New Model Army Express in .476/.455 and .45 Long (Colt). At the time it was purchased at the Army Navy C.S.L. in England, around 1889 if I remember correctly, it most likely would have been a Junior Officer purchase as the top break Webley WG model which was more expensive and therefore something a higher officer would have afforded. was in full production by then. I'm sure most of you know that the English officers had to furnish all of there own kit including their sidearms. It was made to compete with the Colt 1878 double action and personally I think they did a bang up job! I use this as my main match revolver in NCOWS with either black/substitute .45 Colt or .45 Schofield cartridges. There is not a bit of rust or pitting anywhere on this old girl and where the bluing is gone its either rubbed or flaked off....if you look closely there are areas of that beautiful fire blue left in places and small parts.
