Seems like that part is there

FAQ

27) What is a MAUSER BUMP?

Can anyone explain to me the real thinking Mauser had when they produced their early Lugers with the No Mauser hump and then some were intermixed with the Mauser hump and finally all were produced with no Mauser hump?

The early Mausers had mixed humps and no humps, but for instance, the Gs seem NOT to be humped, but they all have a thickened back where the hump is to better contain the rear axle pin during the rearward most movement of the receiver forks. The humped Mauser simply had some of the thickened rear frame REMOVED to form the hump.

The Hump but it is formed at the very rear back of the frame above the lanyard loop. The back of the frame on DWM's is straight up vertical. Some K-dates, G-dates and 1936-S/42 Mausers are also straight up or vertical. The Hump causes the rear of the frame to not be vertical, it has a curved appearance to it. You can easily see it from the side. The Mauser Military Lugers are the only ones that have the HUMP, I think! It is interesting Mauser elected to remove that section of metal to return the frame length to the same as a DWM Luger!

Can anyone let me know when Mauser started building the rear frame "bump" to prevent the rear toggle link pin from falling out when the toggle assembly was in its full rear position ?
I have seen some Mauser S/42 coded Lugers without this "bump".
Should this "bump" occur on all Mauser Lugers, i.e. K-dates, G-dates, byf's, Banners, etc. ?
Some K dates had them on them and some Ks had a thickened back edge so if they wanted the HUMP, they could machine metal off the bottom edge of the thickened wall, it was an attempt to keep the rear axle pin from slipping sideways under full recoil. MOST Mausers will have it, but they would leave it out for a while then put it back in. Some Navy Lugers approached this problem from a different angle, they made the head of the pin LARGER.

Default Hump

I've highlighted the hump in the receiver of this 1941 Mauser Luger in red:

I've circled two strawed parts on this 1916 DWM Luger:

Straw parts and Mauser "hump" have been extensively explained in the FAQ and introduction part of this site.

When ever I go to the FAQs and ask about Mauser hump I get "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms." Same with strawed Luger parts.

Did you not click on my link, or see my posting above. The word is either hump or bump. You have to be creative sometimes in doing search terms.

I copied the entire section, then showed you the picture....

Steve, 'what' happens?

It should take you to the main page, then you click on General Information or the technical pages or something else.

If you click on FAQ and then go to where the earlier link I posted, it takes you direct to the FAQ

Right here >>>> http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthread.php?t=13121

However, I copied the words and the picture from the FAQ.

If this is not the info you need, then I am really unsure what else we can tell you on that specific question

Edward Tinker, yes that takes me where I need to go and answer my questions but, the FAQ at the top of page does not? New here and don't know the ropes yet.
Thank you, Steve

No, it doesn't. Is there some rule about so many posts before full privileges?

Edward Tinker and others, mind you I have absolutely no experience with this but, since I recently purchased a Luger as a shooter I did the Semi Chrome test on it. The results were nothing I've ever seen before the Q Tip was covered in deep brown? Again, I have no experience with this process and don't claim anything of the results. Did save the Q Tip and could take photos with my cell phone to send to anyone who, possibly, could make a determination, if I have their cell number? My email should be available through my identity on this forum?

Steve, that just shows that it has patina on it. I would still clean it well, but not worry that it was rusting, I think thats okay.

This is what I see when I click on the FAQ at the top of the page.

The other two ways I was trying to lead you were on a page at the technical and other info and the second is in the new collector area... The 2nd one does take you to the same link as this one below

As of yet, I've never seen any of what you posted last??? Are you getting to this from the opening page before clicking on the forum?
Also, I was referring to the age testing on the FAQ page you posted not rust worries.
