It is a Navy marking for the Ostsee port.

Thanks for the info.
Does having this marking do anything to the value of it ? I know this isn't a bayonet forum, but it seems you guys know everything !! |

Yes, the value is increased because it has Ostsee markings over one that has none. Other things enter into value including sharpening, condition, matching serial number scabbard, etc.

Here's some more pics.
All the numbers on the bayonet match , but the scabbard does not. It is a different serial number but is stamped with the same year '38. The blade does not look like it has been sharpened (to me) and there are only a few wear marks where it goes into the scabbard. The frog has some stampings on the back and one of them is '38 as well. Any ideas on a ballpark $$ value ? |

I can't help you with the Swedish bayonets but the German S84/98 scabbard is a mis-match thus lowering the value. I see these sell for around $100 - $125 with frog in this condition.
