Ted Green is finally willing to give me my Luger back!!! And what a transformation! The man is a wizard! My poor Luger (affectionately dubbed The Gypsy) based on all the stamps, was a military issue in 1918, probably captured at some point and found it's way to East Germany and a rework there. The toggle and barrel were replaced and appropriate stamps were added, and based on the VOPO stamp posted to the forum earlier, she likely saw service as an E. G. Police sidearm. But all in all she was in pretty bad shape when I got her (see earlier BEFORE picture down the Forum).
Well Ted has turned this sorry example into a thing of beauty that will turn heads at any range it winds up on. The thing that is also very meaningful to me is, that many of my friends, have had a hand in the restoration of this badly beaten baby. New grips were supplied by Hugh, new magazines and takedown lever (original bent beyond help) supplied by Tom, new magazine bottoms supplied by G. T., and of course the fabulous artistry of Herr Gruen himself, on all the rest. I will shortly be posting more pictures in the Owner's Corner, but for now here's a little sample.
