Post barrel& receiver

Can anyone give me a recommended procedure for removing a 4 inch barrel from the receiver so that I do not damage either piece.
Thank you.

Best advice is to have a competent gunsmith do it. From what I know, it is not a job for a home gunsmith--there are some specialized tools needed to preclude bending the frame/forks. Someone here on the board may respond and be able to do it (Lugerdoc? Thor?).

Hugh Clark is also recommended for this work in addition to Lugerdoc (Tom Heller), Thor (Ted Green) and Art Buchanan...

without the proper Luger barrel vise and action wrench tools, this job is NOT recommended for an amateur... your Luger WILL end up damaged if you try to cut corners.

John, as I have been mentioned for this type of work several times, and to clarify,I must mention that Hugh does all my barrel replacements on my reworks.
