barrel& receiver
Can anyone give me a recommended procedure for removing a 4 inch barrel from the receiver so that I do not damage either piece.
Thank you. |
Best advice is to have a competent gunsmith do it. From what I know, it is not a job for a home gunsmith--there are some specialized tools needed to preclude bending the frame/forks. Someone here on the board may respond and be able to do it (Lugerdoc? Thor?).

Call Art Buchanan.....

Hugh Clark is also recommended for this work in addition to Lugerdoc (Tom Heller), Thor (Ted Green) and Art Buchanan...
without the proper Luger barrel vise and action wrench tools, this job is NOT recommended for an amateur... your Luger WILL end up damaged if you try to cut corners. |
John, as I have been mentioned for this type of work several times, and to clarify,I must mention that Hugh does all my barrel replacements on my reworks.

thanks for the clarification Thor... I shall remember this next time the subject comes up.

Thanks for all the positive feedback to a newbie. I'm going to ressurect this Luger and make it a good example of a PO8.
Thanks to all of you. Craig |
